Some of the worlds best beat makers in East London’s brand new music and arts venue...

MNDSGN 1600 x 1068.jpg

Talented LA beatmaker MNDSGN returns to London for a showcase of spectacular beats alongside Lapalux and CID RIM for one of the first shows at Dalston’s brand new 2,500 capacity space, Hackney Arts Centre!

Ringo Ancheta AKA Mndsgn is an anomaly among hip-hop producers – not raised in the suburbs on a steady diet of video games and hip-hop, but in the forest like a beast. His parents were granted political asylum in the U.S. and settled in rural New Jersey, where Ancheta was raised on the outskirts of a commune without electricity. Inspired by a Nas lyric and with a nod to his father’s work in neuroscience he began beat-making as Mndsgn and moved to Los Angeles.

Joining MNDSGN will be Brainfeeder artist Stuart Howard AKA Lapalux who has made a name for himself by combining dark, twisted and sometimes wonky R&B beats with his natural talent for creating deep textural masterpieces.

Also, Austria’s most exciting producer, mixer and collaborator Cid Rim will be heading up the stage at Hackney Arts Centre. He breaks all the rules by bringing a patina of otherworldly musicianship to his progressive electronic hip hop. His otherworldly talent for electronic arrangements coming from a background of Free Jazz makes his music unmistakingly recognisable.

After having it’s doors closed for over 30 years, the founders of Shoreditch’s groundbreaking venue Village Underground are giving the former Savoy cinema a brand new lease of life. We’re super excited to be a part of Hackney Art Centre’s transformation by putting on some of the most groundbreaking names in hip-hop today and beyond!

“...laser-like concentration on groove and gorgeous textural flutterings” - The Wire on MNDSGN

“The Barry White of electronica.” – Errol Anderson, The Independent on Lapalux

“CID RIM’s beatmaking is sheer class, achieving a live organic sound with jazz breaks” - Mix Mag
